Continuing their voyage, Grover discovers an eye on the ship's anchor, realizing it is a friendly Mimic. Two days from shore, the Lion's Pride sails into a fierce, unnatural thunderstorm. Five bolts of living lightning strike the deck, taking corporeal form and viciously attacking the crew. The battle is chaotic; the lightning elementals unleash devastating AoE lightning attacks that down Fari and severely damage Fenwick. Grover utilizes his symbiotic entity spores and Freedom of the Waves, effectively healing the party, while Vadis uses radiant whips to dispatch the final bolts. After saving the ship, Bang the powder monkey excitedly tests the repaired cannons, and the party spots the Griffin's Rest—a massive traveling sky-tavern—floating in the clouds.
