Jail Talks

After securing the deactivated robot Gears, the party splits up. Fari and Grover attempt to bypass city security by using Gaseous Form to fly to the upper levels, but the spell fails, sending Fari plummeting to the ground. They are promptly arrested by guards for illegal flight and thrown in jail for the night. Meanwhile, Vadis and Fenwick take the official ferry to the University to meet Mara Stoneheart, an Earth Genasi professor and apprentice to Stakars. Vadis learns that his ancient companions—Stakars, Alandra, and others—are immortal and actively shaping the world. Fenwick takes the recovered mutagen to a dark alchemist, confirming it contains raw essence from the Plane of Fire. The next morning, Fenwick pays the fines to release Fari and Grover from jail.
